When setting up or using Stripe with Klubfunder, you may encounter verification issues, pending checks, or errors within your Stripe dashboard.
This page explains the most common problems, why they happen, and how to fix them quickly.


⚠️ Stripe Account Shows "Incomplete"

Stripe requires several identity and organisation details before an account can accept payments.

What This Means

Some required information is missing, unclear, or needs verification.

How to Fix

  1. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard:
    https://dashboard.stripe.com
  2. A red banner will appear at the top → click Complete Setup.
  3. Submit any missing details:
    • Club information
    • Responsible person ID
    • Proof of address
    • Bank account

Verification usually completes within minutes once documents are uploaded clearly.


❌ Identity Verification Failed

Stripe may reject identity verification for a club representative.

Why This Happens

  • Blurry or cropped photo ID
  • Name on ID does not match name entered
  • Expired or unsupported ID
  • Poor lighting or glare on the ID image

Fix Steps

  1. Re-upload the ID in a well-lit environment.
  2. Ensure the entire document is visible (no edges cut off).
  3. Double-check spelling of the name and date of birth.
  4. Upload the ID type Stripe recommends (passport is most reliable).

🚫 "We need more information" Banner in Stripe

Stripe sometimes requests additional documents after initial setup.

Common Requests

  • Proof of home address (utility bill, bank statement)
  • Proof of club address
  • Confirmation of club type (association, charity, sports club)
  • Additional identity verification

How to Fix

  1. Log in to Stripe
  2. Follow the instructions under Requirements
  3. Upload documents as requested

Your Klubfunder payments will continue working as long as the info is submitted by the deadline.


🏦 Bank Account Verification Failed

Possible Causes

  • Wrong sort code / IBAN
  • Bank account does not support payouts
  • Account is not in the club’s name
  • Business/club type mismatch

Fix Steps

  • Double-check sort code and account number
  • Ensure the bank account accepts local transfers
  • The account must belong to the club
  • If using a credit union or building society account, confirm it supports Stripe payouts

⛔ Payments Are Disabled / Payouts Paused

This occurs when Stripe places restrictions on an account.

Common Reasons

  • Verification overdue
  • Missing documents
  • Evidence needed for compliance
  • Risk or fraud checks (rare but possible)

How to Fix

  1. Log in to Stripe Dashboard
  2. Look for warnings at the top
  3. Follow the tasks listed under Get Your Account Ready
  4. Upload or confirm any required information

Payments will resume automatically when the issue is resolved.


🧾 "Business Type Not Supported"

Stripe may block the setup if it cannot recognise the organisation structure.

Fix

Use “Non-Profit / Association” or “Unincorporated Association” when describing the club.

📄 "Unable to Verify Address"

Why It Happens

  • Incorrect post code
  • Club address formatting mismatch
  • Documents not matching the submitted address

Fix Steps

  • Use an official address the club is registered with
  • Ensure consistency across documents
  • Upload a utility bill or bank statement as Proof of Address if requested

🔄 Stripe Keeps Redirecting Back to Klubfunder Without Connecting

Cause

Stripe setup was started but not finished.

Fix

  1. Go to Stripe Dashboard
  2. Complete any pending verification tasks
  3. Return to Klubfunder and click Connect Stripe again

🔁 Accidentally Created Multiple Stripe Accounts

Symptoms

  • Klubfunder doesn’t show Stripe connected
  • You see more than one account in Stripe Dashboard

Fix

  1. Log in to Stripe
  2. Switch to the correct account using the top-left selector
  3. Complete setup for that account
  4. Reconnect Stripe through Klubfunder

If unsure, the account with no activity (no payouts/logs) is usually the duplicate.


🔐 "Incorrect Phone Number for Verification"

Stripe uses SMS verification.

Fix

  • Use a mobile number, not a landline
  • Ensure the number is typed without extra spaces
  • Check international code (e.g., +44, +353)

ℹ️ When to Contact Stripe Support

Contact Stripe directly if:

  • Verification repeatedly fails despite correct documents
  • Your account is restricted and no action is shown
  • Your payouts stop unexpectedly
  • You cannot access your account
